Song of Solomon 3-4
2 Cor 6
Psalm 85; Psalm 86
Holy Ground… Selah…
Ex 3: 1 – 14 is the account of the Burning Bush. This is not some magic trick lightly tossed into Moses’ story.
a. Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
b. Exo 24:16 Now the glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
c. Exo 24:17 The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
d. Exo 24:18 So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
e. Deu 4:23 Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God which He made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the LORD your God has forbidden you.
f. Deu 4:24 For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
3. Name of God
a. There is undoubtedly more included in the name “I AM” than has ever been brought out, but there are several things of primary importance that should be considered. The name “I AM” is a tetragram, or a word of four letters. We translate it JEHOVAH. It has also been translated as YAHWEH. How do you pronounce it? It became a sacred name, a holy name, to the children of Israel to such an extent they actually forgot how to pronounce it. To avoid profaning His name, they did not use it. Which name, then, is correct? Is it Jehovah or Yahweh? No one knows. But “I AM” is God's name.
b. In Genesis God is Creator. He is Elohim, the mighty God, the self–existing One; I AM WHO I AM. This is the God who is sending Moses to deliver the children of Israel.
c. Psa 135:13 says, “Thy name, O LORD, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.”
d. The name “LORD” in this verse can be translated “I AM WHO I AM.” It is important to see that this name speaks of the fact that GOD IS.
e. Word
i. This opening verse in the Gospel of John sets the stage for God becoming man. ‘Word’ occurs three times in this verse. In the Greek, it is ‘Logos.’ The literal translation is that Logos is a gathering of sticks. Greek philosophers used this term to describe a gathering of thoughts. It was the concept they applied to the mind. This word in the New Testament also equates to reasoning and the ‘Divine Expression’ which means Christ. Using Strong’s Concordance and the Greeks’ cascading definition of Logos, another way to translate this verse is to say:
ii. In the Beginning was the mind of God, and the reasoning (Holy Spirit) of God was with God, and the Divine Expression (Christ) was God.
iii. Heb 1:1-3 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
iv. has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
v. who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
vi. A word – Logos – is composed of letters and Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last. According to Hebrews 1: 1-3, Jesus is God’s LAST word to mankind because He is the climax of divine revelation.[1]
vii.
4. Holy Ground
a. Why was this Holy Ground?
b. How do we step onto Holy Ground?
c. What should be Holy Ground in our lives?
d. How do we reestablish National Holy Ground?
